The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing is a non-governmental organization devoted to the development of international cooperation for the advancement of photogrammetry and remote sensing and their applications. The Society operates without any discrimination on grounds of race, religion, nationality, or political philosophy. The official languages are English, French and German.
The Society’s scientific interests include photogrammetry, remote sensing, spatial information systems and related disciplines, as well as applications in cartography, geodesy, surveying, natural, Earth and engineering sciences, and environmental monitoring and protection. Further applications include industrial design and manufacturing, architecture and monument preservation, medicine and others.

In 2017 ISPRS has introduced the Education and Capacity Building Initiatives to support projects of interest to the ISPRS community. The SUNRISE summer school has been one of the project awarded in 2024 (https://www.isprs.org/society/ecbi/default.aspx ).

CIPA https://www.cipaheritagedocumentation.org/

CIPA is one of the oldest International Scientific Committees of ICOMOS (International Council of Monuments and Sites), jointly founded in 1968 with ISPRS (International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing) to facilitate the transfer of technology from the measurements sciences into the heritage documentation and recording disciplines.

CIPA originally stood for Comité International de la Photogrammétrie Architecturale (English: “International Committee of Architectural Photogrammetry”).

However, this old but well-known name no longer describes the full scope of CIPA activities, so CIPA Heritage Documentation was established (https://www.cipaheritagedocumentation.org/about/whatiscipa/).
